Hyundi Tournament of Champions - Round 1

Round 1 is rapping up with Jonathan Byrd and Carl Pettersson as the early co-leaders at 7 under with Ben Crane only one back at -6.  A lot of guys playing very solid to start the year out.  Players took advantage of a very soft course as heavy rains drenched the course earlier this morning.  Watch for the course to dry out as the weekend goes along and for scores to stay steady.

The past couple years the winner has been at -22 and -24 and I would look for scores to be very similar this year.  However, if the trade winds start to blow watch for scores to stay pretty steady from where they are currently at.

Local Madisonian Steve Stricker is currently at -5 with two holes to play.  Look for Stricker to have another stellar performance this year.  He seems to really like this course and plays well every year.

Coming off an injury plagued year Anthony Kim opens up with a -4 69 on the very long par 73 course.  Nice to see Anthony playing good again.  He's just another one of those 'young guns' to watch out for this year.  Anthony is a player that has tons of potential but we are yet to see in full.  Maybe this will be his year.

With the leader board full of Americans will we see our first American winner sense Jim Furyk in 2001?
